IMPACT STUDENTS ARE ACHIEVING AT A HIGH LEVEL
By Duane McCoy
2011 was a banner year for the 503 IMPACT students. Not only did the travel teams' players achieve much success, especially those playing on the Xtreme 14 U teams, but over 40 of its high school players earned All-state, county, city, league, tournament and AGR awards. However, it was IMPACT's college players who shone brightly this past season. Fourteen of its graduates tried out for their college varsity teams and all 14 were selected to play and 10 started. IMPACT now has 12 girls now playing Division 1 and 2. Among those having a banner year were:

JESS HARMAN

Jess helped the Cortland Red Dragons to a fourth place finish in the Division 3 National Tournament. The junior softball shortstop was chosen to the District I All-Academic Softball second team

Harman entered the 2011 spring semester with a 3.90 grade point average. The kinesiology major started all 48 games the Red Dragons this past spring. A second-team all-region shortstop, she batted .362 with two homers, 12 doubles, 27 RBI, nine steals and a team-high 22 walks. Jess, a Penfield High graduate, was selected to the All-Tournament team. Jess is a 5 year IMPACT student.

The Schroeder grad led the team in 7 offensive categories and was second in 7 others. She is about to break several offensive school records in her time left as a player.
